Another Iconic Singer/Songwriter has gone!
During the summer of 1967, a lot of us were trying to figure out what the song 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' by the British rock band Procol Harum really was about. What we were sure of though was that it was an amazing song and it quickly became one of the defining songs of the Summer of Love.
Now the band's singer and keyboardist Gary Brooker has died at the age of 76 - peacefully at his home in England. He has been undergoing treatment for cancer. Brooker wrote the song and also sang it on the recording.
Brooker also realeased three studio albums as a solo artist but they never reached the heights as hsi work with Procol Harum.
The band broke up in 1977, but reunited in 1991. Brooker was the only constant member and continued to perform with Procol Harum until 2019.
