Pfizer now says you will need a fourth dose of COVID vaccine to ward off the virus.
The company points out that the Omicron variant was the first one that was able to evade the immunity provided by the first three shots but that other variants are coming and some could do it even better. It also says protection from the virus doesn't last that long.
The CDC says that moderately or severely immunocompromised people who've had three doses of either Pfizer or Moderna can already get that fourth dose. It's not clear yet if the FDA will clear healthy adults and teens to also get a fourth dose of the COVID vaccine.
