Nearly 100 years after it first opened, the iconic Vista Theater in Los Feliz is about to get a new life - thanks to filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.
The theater closed in March of 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Tarantino bought it in 2021 and now has revealed his plans. According to a permit application, he plans to operate a cafe and arcade at the theater which will also offer wine and beer. And don't forget the movies! Tarantino says the Vista will mostly run new films but there could be some older films sprinkeled in.
The Vista is not the first theater Tarantino has brought back to life. In 2007, he bought the New Beverly Cinema which showcases classic films, his own movies, and double features almost always on 35mm (or 16mm) film.
The Vista is expected to open around Christmas!
