Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus is returning - but without the lions and tigers...and elephants...oh my!
"The Greatest Show on Earth" stopped touring six years ago - partially because of pressure from animal rights groups. The elephants had already been pulled from the show a year earlier. They were sent to a sanctuary in Florida.
The new version of the circus was envisioned during the pandemic and is expected to be coming to a town near you by the end of next year.
They may not send in the clowns either. The owner of the circus, Feld Entertainment, says that audiences today don't want to see clown acts anymore.
The new and improved Ringling Brothers will focus more on death-defying, awe-inspiring human feats. It will also engage with audiences more on social media, including at times during the actual show.
Patchy rain possible, with a high of 70 and low of 53 degrees. Partly cloudy in the morning, sunny in the afternoon, partly cloudy overnight.
